# Delete a label

The label goes, and comes off every conversation that carried it. The conversations stay where they are.

`DELETE /labels/{id}`

## DELETE /labels/{id}

The label goes, and comes off every conversation that carried it. The conversations stay where they are.

## Example

Needs `labels:write`.

**curl**

```
curl -X DELETE "$OE/labels/USER_INVOICES" -H "$AUTH"
```

**Response**

```
{ "object": "label", "id": "USER_INVOICES", "deleted": true }
```

> There is no undo. Creating the same name again gives the same id, but the conversations do not get the label back. Read the label first if you want to say how many will lose it: that is its `threadCount`.
