In short

## What are email keyboard shortcuts?

A shortcut ties one key to one action, so mail takes keypresses instead of clicks. Most here are a single key: one to search, one to move, one to act.

How it works

## A slash to search

/ puts the cursor in the search field above the list you are on. The list narrows as you type, a small typo still finds its match, and Esc clears it.

## The list moves under your hands

The arrow keys, or J and K, open each thread in the reading pane as you land on it. Hold one down to run past without opening anything.

## Two keys, one jump

G then I lands in the inbox, G then C in contacts. The second key has one second to arrive.

## The keys

What each one does, and where.

/ search this list C compose J next thread K previous thread E archive, in the list S star, in the list R reply, in a thread A reply all, in a thread G → I go to the inbox ⌘Z undo ⌘↵ send, in the composer
