Keyboard-first
Search is /, the assistant is ⌘0, and the list moves under the arrow keys.
Details
- / puts the cursor in the search field at the top of the list you are on, whether that is mail, contacts, templates or files. The list narrows as you type, Enter searches at once, and Esc clears the field.
- In the mail list, J and K or the arrow keys move from thread to thread and open each one in the reading pane. Hold a key down to run past without opening anything.
- G then a letter jumps: I for the inbox, T for sent, D for drafts, A for the archive, B for the bin, C for contacts, K for the calendar and S for settings. The second key has one second to arrive.
- C composes, ⌘Z takes back the last archive or move to the bin while its toast shows, ⌘0 opens the assistant, and ? lists every shortcut, grouped by where it works.
- Single-key shortcuts pause while the cursor is in a field, so an r or a c typed into a reply is just a letter.
